While we technically met online, some of our mutual friends can note the amount of times we should have met… but didn’t. We are firm believers that we met at the best time for both of us. We lived 2 blocks away from each other and actually had to schedule our first date around “our birthday”.

Shortly after we met, we discovered that we had some of the same bucket list destinations. Seattle was on both of our lists, so we booked the flights and made plans. We’ve since been back as it’s one of our favorite places and memories to re-visit.

While we were in Seattle having the time of our lives, we actually got the news that we were going to be long distance for at least a year. This was really difficult for both of us, going from living 2 blocks away to over 2,000 miles away, but we made the most of it, and visited each other often.

One of our favorite things to do together is to explore new cultures and places. So far we’ve been to: Spain, Ireland, Scotland, England, Portugal (for 8 hours), Japan, Seattle x2, Florida (Disney), Las Vegas, Mexico, and lots of mini road trips in between.

While our first date may have been postponed because of our birthday, it actually became one of our favorite days and things to celebrate. Every year is different - some years we take a trip, some years we throw a big party, and some years we just keep it a little more lowkey. One thing remains constant: We always have Jimmy Johns.

nuestro compromiso matrimonial

During our trip to Japan, we got engaged! We had a whirlwind two weeks with “our little secret” before officially announcing it to the world. It was truly special and wonderful to have that time together, but, we were also super excited to come back and “officially” start our life together.

Our long distance relationship came to an end after our engagement and we’ve currently been living in Detroit while exploring what is next in our journey together. We’ve been traveling, marathon training, spending time with family and friends, and, of course, wedding planning.
